THE VILULA TEA GARDEN

...it was a little tea room in my memories...ladies wearing white gloves and pretty hats; soft and mended old linens on the tables; and heirloom roses in crystal vases....lovely.

Vacation's almost over!!!

My summer vacation is almost over! School starts here on August 7th...a Friday. Go figure, a Friday, no less...anyway, I will get back in the groove of waking at 6:00 AM and getting to school by 7:10...bedtime at 10:00 - 11:00 at the very latest! I must be disciplined again...no more frittering away my time...the school year is very structured for me; actually, I don't mind some structure in my life. as someone with ADD, I do better with it. I have had quite a few changes these last few weeks; all will turn out to be good, I hope! This is my 10th year at my elementary school...I have seen many children grow up from Pre-K through 5th grade...many families with multiple children, each in their respective grades. I will see another group that I've known from Pre-K through 5th grade going on to the 6th grade in Middle School at the end of this school year. It's been great. School Nursing is such an important job...we do more than just bandaids on boo-boos. I take care of children with diabetes, seizures, asthma, spina bifida, osteomylitis, severe food allergies requiring Epi pens and dedicated lunch tables, broken bones; some schools have children requiring tube feedings, tracheostomy care, you name it...Our state, Georgia, and our Governor, Sonny Perdue, is trying to severely limit the amount of school nurses, here. The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) advocates that a nurse should not have more than 750 students under their care...luckily, our county has a nurse in every school, which is not the case in all the counties in Georgia. Some counties have lost their school nurses, or require one or two nurses for the whole county...do you want that for your children?
