THE VILULA TEA GARDEN

...it was a little tea room in my memories...ladies wearing white gloves and pretty hats; soft and mended old linens on the tables; and heirloom roses in crystal vases....lovely.

Armadillo Eggs

Armadillo eggs are not eggs, and they are definitely not from Armadillos. They are delicious appetizers, popular in the Southwest, and as far as I'm concerned, everywhere else! There are several different methods of making them, but this is my favorite!

INGREDIENTS:

12 Jalapeno peppers
1 lb. sausage
2 cups baking mix, such as Pioneer Baking Mix
1/2 cup of milk
1- 8 oz. pkg. shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
1- 8 oz. pkg. cubed Cream cheese as in Philly brand
2 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. red pepper flakes (more or less to your taste)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease baking sheet. Wearing gloves, cut a slit in each pepper, removing the seeds and pulp. Into a large bowl, add baking mix, shredded Cheddar cheese, garlic salt, pepper flakes, sausage and the 1/2 cup of milk and mix well with your hands. Insert a cube of the Cream cheese into each pepper. Form the sausage mixture around each pepper and place on the baking sheet. Bake about 25 minutes in the preheated oven or until lightly browned. For a change of pace, you could use Monterey Jack cheese, cubed, if you like. This will be a hit at any gathering, I promise!

The Cowgirl's Code of the West

Always tighten your cinch.

Keep your gear in order.

Always saddle your own horse!

Always take care of your horse before you take care of yourself.

Laugh at life's little stampedes.

Gallop for cover for the big ones.

Whatever you do, do it the best you can.

When a Cowgirl is about to leave the chutes for a wild ride on a bucking bronc,
lean over and whisper to her, "Don't weaken!"

If you think about it, there is some good advice for life in the above sayings...

RIDE ON COWGIRL!!!

Womenhood, Friends and Sisters

This came in an email; I thought it was great to post here to remind us of who we are...

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how

many miles are

between you. A girl friend is never farther away

than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you

have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life

will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,

praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on

your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the

valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk

beside you....Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,

daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended

family: all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and

neither would I. When we began this adventure called

womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or

sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we

would need each other.

This is my baby sister, Deb-Y...I love her very much. I'm also blessed to have so many friends...I appreciate each and every one of them. Thank you all for stopping by...
