THE VILULA TEA GARDEN
...it was a little tea room in my memories...ladies wearing white gloves and pretty hats; soft and mended old linens on the tables; and heirloom roses in crystal vases....lovely.

Vintage Pillowcase Lunchbox Tutorial by OhFransson!
This is a great tutorial from Elizabeth Green @ OhFransson! www.ohfransson.com This tutorial describes how to make a vinyl-covered lunchbox bag and matching desk placemat from a 20x30 vintage percale pillowcase. The instructions are clear and the pictures just perfect to help you step by step! "The finished bag is about 6.5" high, by 8" wide by 6" deep. (The gathered top and handles make it a little taller.) The accompanying placemat is about 9x12, just the right size for your desk at work.
Of course, you don't have to use a pillowcase. A vintage sheet, curtain or even a contemporary cotton print would work just as well. If you choose a heavier fabric for the body and handles, you may want to forgo the iron-on vinyl and, similarly, if you want to forgo the iron-on vinyl, you probably want to choose a heavier fabric (or at least a heavy interfacing). The drawstring panels on top of the bag, the lining and the placemat will all be more successful if made from a lighter weight fabric like vintage percale or quilters cotton. I have trimmed my bags with rick-rack, but any 3/8 x 1/2 trim will do. If you're using a vintage pillowcase, you will need to use some kind of trim to cover a worn crease in the fabric."
Just go to http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2008/03/vintage-pillowc.html and check it out!

She's on her way!
My little cowgirl Annie is on her way to my swap-partner! I joined Aunt Pittypat's Annie 2 Swap and this is my very first effort in making a doll! It was a lot of fun and a lot of pain! It was hard to make something this small...it was a great learning experience, though, and I really learned a lot. I will be making more Annie's in the future, that's for sure! I hope my little girl will make her new Mommy happy when she arrives in______________! I'm not tellin'! heehee

Pardon me for knitting...in Hooter's
Now, tell the truth! How many of you would be nice enough after a long hard day at work, to go with your husband and a bunch of rowdy men to Hooter's for a wing party? I was the designated driver...who could argue with that? All in all...I had a pretty good time, although, I was stared at openly! I can't believe nobody's knitted at Hooter's before...that's what the manager said, anyway! I am going to start a poll! Who has knitted at Hooter's before? I am anxiously awaiting your answer! I will give a prize to the first person who knits in Hooter's and posts the picture!!! Make sure you send me your email info and your blog address, if you have one. I have to see the 'proof in the pudding', so to speak! Knitters Unite! We will not be put down!!! We WILL knit in public, wherever we PLEASE...yeah!!!

Oops!
My son informed me that credit for this picture had been given for three states; and Georgia was not one of them! I looked it up on Snopes and it was unverified, but originated in Texas...what did I say...things are bigger in Texas! Anyway, wherever it's from, here's a recipe for fried Rattlesnake for those of you who find a little one...teehee
Deep-Fried Rattlesnake
1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks
1/c cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup cracker crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)
1 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper, to taste
Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks. Then coat with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered in 400 degree oil until golden... YUM

Bigger in Georgia
THEY GROW 'EM BIG IN GEORGIA
This 97 lb. rattlesnake was found in an area just north of Savannah.
9' 1" - 97 lbs. - Biggest rattler found since one was captured in 1969 that measured 9' 1" but ONLY weighed 78 lbs.
This old guy was found inside a open water tank near an abandoned chicken house.
When we lived in Texas, I swore that 'things were bigger in Texas'! Now, I'm not so sure! This fella could feed a large family for a week, or so they would say at the Rattlesnake Round-ups they have there! yee-haw!

My sweet Mother
What can I say about my Mother? She's my best friend; she is always there for me, to gently correct me and encourage me in the right and Godly direction, and she laughs at my jokes. She has the best sense of humor and is such a good sport when the joke's on her! She did without to give to my sister and me...never complaining. She is beloved by all...I aspire to be as good as she is, failing miserably, at times....what more can I say - She is my Mother. Happy Mother's Day, darling.

A Happy in the mail! Sew What!
Imagine my surprise when I opened the box on the porch and peeked inside! It wasn't from MY Flirty Apron Vintage Kitchen Linens swap partner, but a complete stranger and another Flirty apron swapper, Debra from New York!!! In the box was the most beautiful leopard tissue paper and sealed with a kiss! When I opened the paper, peeking out was pink and green polka-dots and eyelet!!! This beautiful apron! Of course my camera was acting up so I had to 'steal' Debra's photos from her Facebook page...hope she will forgive me! heehee
Attached by a loop of pretty rick-rack and a daisy button, was this delicious cross-stitched finger-tip towel! What a great idea!
And ties in back with a pretty bow! She also included lemon candies and a great recipe which I'll post below:
Debra's Veggie Quesadillas
Ingredients:
1 cup salsa
1 cup drained black beans, rinsed
1 zucchini,shredded
8 (6-inch) flour tortillas
3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (jalapeno style adds extra kick)
Pam
In medium bowl, combine salsa, beans, and zucchini. Spread 1/4 mixture over each of 4 tortillas. Top each portion with 3 Tablespoons cheese; cover with another tortilla.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat(spray with Pam. One at a time, cook each quesadilla (spray top tortilla with Pam before flipping), turning once, until cheese is melted. Cut each quesadilla in quarters; serve immediately.
Number of servings:
Four as an entree. Cut in quarters for appetizers.
Prep time: About 15 minutes

Don't ditch it, Re-stitch it!
Now that Aunt Pittypat's received her package, I can post the pictures of the apron I made out of a dress I picked up at a local food pantry/thrift shop. This was a lot of fun...I love to make things out of something else!
Here's one side...
Close-up of pocket...
The other pocket...with an 'egg money pocket' above it!
This is the dress that I up-cycled into the apron...

New developments on Kyle!
My little nephew went to the Neurosurgeon today, to find out the extent of his problem...he does not have to have surgery!!! His headaches are not caused by the Chiari Malformation and he does not have any symptoms with balance, coordination, etc.! All the prayers offered up for him were answered...He has to have another MRI to make sure there is no fluid on his spinal cord, but he has no symptoms of that, either. That would be the only way he would need surgery to correct the malformation at this stage. He will have to be monitored by the doctor as he grows, but that's no problem! Thank you all so very much for your prayers, care and concern...

My churrin'
I was visiting my friend Kat's Tail over at her blog and saw pix of a couple of her beautiful children...I thought that I would share mine with you, as well.
This is my first-born, Lee. He is a wonderful son and always checks up on his mama...there is a story behind this picture, but I won't share it here :) As you can see, he has a mischievous side!
My daughter-in-law, Luci, is a joy...she makes my son so happy!
...and my baby, Robyn, as you can see, she has a flair for the dramatic, like her mama. teehee

Pray for Kyle
For those of you that can, please pray for my little nephew, Kyle…he has been having headaches, thought to be migraines by his pediatrician for about eight months. Thankfully, his allergy doctor did a CT scan to see his sinuses for an allergy problem and decided to include the brain. After an MRI was done, he was diagnosed with a rare malformation called Arnold Chiari Syndrome, or Chiari Malformation. The explanation is complicated, but in a few words, he has to have brain surgery. This little boy is one of the children whose pictures I put on my door at work – if you’ve ever seen them, you know his smile could light up the room, with a little Dennis the Menace thrown into that smile! Thank you in advance, friends...
