THE VILULA TEA GARDEN
...it was a little tea room in my memories...ladies wearing white gloves and pretty hats; soft and mended old linens on the tables; and heirloom roses in crystal vases....lovely.

Oops!
My son informed me that credit for this picture had been given for three states; and Georgia was not one of them! I looked it up on Snopes and it was unverified, but originated in Texas...what did I say...things are bigger in Texas! Anyway, wherever it's from, here's a recipe for fried Rattlesnake for those of you who find a little one...teehee
Deep-Fried Rattlesnake
1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks
1/c cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup cracker crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)
1 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper, to taste
Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks. Then coat with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered in 400 degree oil until golden... YUM

What does snake taste like? Is it white meat?! lol I'm guessing it falles into the "tastes like chicken" catagory!!x
ReplyDeleteI didn't try it...but have eaten frog legs and 'gator! Frog legs are absolutely delicious...'gator was ok. Kat's Tail said the rattlesnake was very tender...she liked it. I'm sure it is white meat...
